Kenton Lions Club History
The Kenton Lions Club was formed on January 14, 1947. Our club was originally sponsored by the Dunkirk Lions Club. We are an active organization and concerned with our community.
Although we support district, state and international projects, most of our work and our funds are directed to the benefit of our local community. We invest thousands of dollars each year in local projects plus many volunteer hours for the betterment of our community.
We are probably best known for our Lions Show, which is held every other year
with skits and local entertainment to raise money for our service projects.
However we do many other things you may not know about.
Some of our service projects include:
We are proud of our reputation as a club that helps the young, the old, the blind, and those in need.
We are the home of Lion William “Bill” Price: District Governor (1990-91), A two time Melvin Jones Award recipient, International President’s Award (2) and the Dick Bryan Fellow Award. PDG Bill was also Council Chairman of the Council of Governors (1991-92).
Lion Ken Barclay, Lion Cliff Biddinger Jr., Lion John Siemon, Lion Leo Boston and Pat Price are also honorees of the prestigious Melvin Jones Award.
The Kenton Lions Club is also proud of its contributions
to Lionism beyond the local level. We are the home club for many Lions who have
been honored with State, District and International awards. . Lion Mike Kissling
named one of the five Council of Governors Award of Merit honorees for 2001.
Lion Bill Keller has received two Council of Governors Award of Merit , two
